When will the Class of 2020 Commencement Celebration take place?

The University will host the Class of 2020 Commencement Celebration over Memorial Day Weekend 2022 (May 27-30). Specifically, the Commencement Mass and University Commencement Ceremony in Notre Dame Stadium on Sunday, May 29, for all 2020 undergraduate, graduate and professional graduates. How many guests will be allowed per graduate?

Parents, siblings, spouses, partners, family members and guests are warmly invited to join graduates for the weekend. Each graduate will receive as many tickets as they would like for the outdoor Commencement Mass and University Commencement Ceremony.

Will there be a Commencement Mass for 2020 graduates?

Yes, a Commencement Mass will be held immediately prior to the University Commencement Ceremony in Notre Dame Stadium on Sunday, May 29.

I don’t use my ND alum email address. Can I provide a different email address for future University communications?

What is the cost to attend the Class of 2020 Commencement Celebration over Memorial Day Weekend 2022?

The cost for graduates to attend the weekend is $75 per person. This price includes food and non-alcoholic beverages provided at the events as well as a number of drink tickets for alcoholic beverages. Additionally, graduates may choose to stay in the dorms for $50 and bring an additional guest to the Commencement Ball for $25. The cost for guests to attend the weekend is $100. Guests will not be allowed to stay in the dorms. 

What COVID-19 protocols will be in place?
Please review the University’s COVID-19 policies. Currently, masks are not required of faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Any individuals who prefer to wear a mask are encouraged to do so. Moreover, in the event you do not feel well, the University requests that you separate yourself from others, wear a mask, and proceed with appropriate testing procedures.
 
If the COVID-19 policies change prior to the commencement celebration, we will communicate this on the website and via email.

 

How many dorm spots are available and will I get to choose my roommate?

Graduates may request residence hall accommodations. This can be requested via the registration form. There are a limited number of dorms (595) that will be available on a first come first serve basis. Graduates will be assigned to dorms with other graduates in singles, doubles, triples, and quads as space allows.  You may include your requested roommate(s) in the comments section of the registration form and we will do our best to accommodate, however, due to limited availability, we cannot guarantee roommate requests. Further information about on-campus housing for families, and a link to a reservation site, will be available soon.

Are dorm accommodations available for families?

A limited number of dorm rooms are available for families. To reserve a room, please register here by May 6.

Is financial assistance, similar to that provided by the Office of Student Enrichment when we were students, available to returning graduates?

An extremely limited number of financial aid awards are available to those who are most in need of assistance. Applications for financial assistance were due by March 15. 

How do I reserve a table at one of the dinner seatings on Friday and/or Saturday? Are these included in the registration fee?

Reservations for dinner on Friday and Saturday are not included in the registration fee. Click here to make your reservations by May 12.

Do I need to purchase a cap and gown?

Those who purchased a cap and gown in 2020 will be expected to bring it for the Memorial Day Weekend Celebration. If you need to purchase a cap and gown, you will be able to do so in advance of the weekend. All graduates are encouraged to bring their Class of 2020 Stole. Where will I check in when I arrive?

Check-in will be located in McKenna Hall during the listed times on the schedule of events. Be sure to check in when you arrive to receive your event tickets, a weekend guide, keys to your on-campus housing, if applicable, and more!
