Cap and Gown Information

Cap and Gown is required for participation in Commencement Mass and the University Commencement Ceremony.

Bachelor and Master gown purchases as well as Doctoral and Law rentals will be managed through the Notre Dame Hammes Bookstore.  All major credit/debit cards and cash will be accepted.

Undergraduate and Masters (Purchase only)

Bachelor Unit – (gown, cap, and tassel) - $36.00
Master Unit – (gown, hood, cap and tassel) - $66.00

St. Michael’s Laundry will press your gown for the big weekend! (Please indicate when ordering.) Pick-up from St. Michael’s beginning April 18 (Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m.)

Doctoral – Law and PhD (Rental or Purchase)

Doctoral Rental Unit – (gown, hood, tam and souvenir tassel) - $128.00

Rentals must be completed by April 8 to ensure on-time delivery
Rental gown pick-up: Monday, May 24 through Saturday, May 28
Rental gowns must be returned by Tuesday, May 31. 

Doctoral Purchase Unit – (gown, hood, tam and souvenir tassel) - $999.00
Doctoral purchases will not be shipped until June 2022
